Facilities Director
Overview

The Facilities Director is responsible for the day-to-day care, readiness, and stewardship of the church building and external grounds to ensure the facility fully supports the ministries, worship services, events, and outreach opportunities of the church. This position manages room scheduling requests, and oversees maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of all indoor and outdoor spaces.
This role requires a servant-hearted leader who values teamwork, takes initiative, and supports the mission of the church by ensuring the facility is welcoming, safe, and prepared for all who enter.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Oversight
• Ensure all church buildings, rooms, and external grounds are clean, safe, functional, and ready for ministry use.
• Fulfill janitorial needs.
• Perform routine inspections of the facility and proactively address maintenance needs.
• Coordinate repairs, maintenance, and improvement projects.
• Oversee setup and teardown of rooms for services, classes, meetings, and events.
• Maintain inventory of facility supplies and equipment.
• Create a building manual
• Ensure auto maintenance for vans and trailers as needed.
Room Scheduling & Ministry Support
• Manage room requests and scheduling to support ministries, events, and outreach activities.
• Maintain usage priority as directed for scheduling
• Communicate with ministry leaders to ensure rooms are prepared according to needs.
• Coordinate facility usage to avoid conflicts and ensure efficient use of space.
• Ensure the building supports weekly services, special events, community outreach, and seasonal activities.
External Grounds Management
• Fulfill maintenance of church grounds, including lawn care, landscaping, parking areas, walkways, and outdoor gathering spaces.
• Ensure outdoor areas are safe, clean, and welcoming for visitors and church members.
• Work with vendors or volunteers as needed.
• Schedules and leads volunteer projects and teams as needed.
Safety & Security
• Ensure the facility meets safety standards and is maintained in a secure condition.
• Monitor building access and ensure doors, alarms, cameras, and lighting are functioning properly.
• Be the first responder and contact for facility-related emergencies.
• Maintain compliance with church policies and applicable regulations.
Communication & Teamwork
• Work closely with pastors, staff, and ministry leaders to support church activities.
• Communicate clearly about facility needs, repairs, and scheduling.
• Maintain a cooperative, service-oriented attitude.
Qualifications
• Agreement with the mission and values of the church.
• Experience in facilities, maintenance, custodial, or operations work preferred.
• Experience leading volunteers or teams preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, tools, and safety practices.
• Ability to lift, move equipment, and perform physical tasks as needed.
Work Schedule
• Sunday-Thursday with flexible scheduling based on ministry needs.
• Some evenings and days for special events or projects required.
