Know God

There is a God and He loves you and wants a relationship with you, but… every one of us has sinned in outright rebellion against God’s perfect and holy law, “for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Our good deeds cannot cover our sinfulness, “there is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10).

Sin will do nothing for you. It may seem great for a moment, but it will leave you dry, empty, dead inside, wanting…needing more.

But there is hope…

God still loves us even though we didn’t love Him––even though we rejected Him (1 John 4:16). He saw our sin, saw the hole we had dug ourselves into and wanted something far greater for us.

God sent His Son, Jesus, to come down to earth and become a man. Jesus lived out His life perfectly––fulfilling God’s law––living out the life that we could not. Jesus was completely blameless but He was arrested, betrayed, abandoned, beaten, bruised, tortured, and nailed to a cross to be executed.

It was on the cross where Jesus took the sin of the world––your sin––upon Himself and He received the punishment that you deserved
(1 Corinthians 15:3; Isaiah 53:4-6)
. Jesus was buried in a tomb but three days later rose again completely conquering sin and death
(1 Corinthians 15:4, 55-56)

Jesus did all of this, dying for you and rising again, so that you can be saved from the penalty of your sin. All you have to do is receive what Jesus has already accomplished for you; that’s it, God’s forgiveness and eternal life is a free gift––just accept His grace in faith (John 11:25-26; Ephesians 2:8-9). If you do that, you will be washed clean of all your sin and will have eternal life!

Now what? “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come”
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

You have been made new by the blood of Christ. Your old self, your old desires are passing away and a new self has been born––live in the victory Christ has won for you. You no longer are a slave to sin (Romans 6:6-7).
