About us
Our Name (ek-kley-sia)
The name EKKLESIA was the New Testament name for church. Since the New Testament was written in Greek, this was the literal Greek word used for church. The word originally meant an assembly or congregation, but it became so much more than that when the church was formed by the shedding of the blood of Jesus and the baptizing work of the Spirit. EKKLESIA became a term that referred to a group of redeemed people who trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior. The EKKLESIA was NOT A BUILDING, but A PEOPLE who loved Jesus passionately and desired to live for Him boldly. We long for the same passion and desire of the early EKKLESIA. WE BELIEVERS ARE THE CHURCH!
What We Believe
GOD:
Is the only true God (Deuteronomy 6:4; John 17:3), who exists in three Persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
JESUS:
Jesus Christ is God (John 1:1; Titus 2:13). He is the eternal Son of God who left heaven to become a man to save sinners from the penalty of sin (Philippians 2:4-11; John 3:15-16). He DIED for sin, He was BURIED, and that He ROSE AGAIN (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He is seated at the right hand of God and is ministering as the Head of the Church today.
HOLY SPIRIT:
The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4). He is working today in the Church in order to glorify Jesus (John 16:14). He is working in the lives of unbelievers to draw them to Christ (John 16:7-11) and believers to mature them in Christ and use them for Christ’s glory (Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:18).
THE BIBLE:
The Bible is inspired by God and inerrant (free from error in the original autographs) (Psalm 119:160; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible is God’s revelation to mankind revealing His person, His plans, His purposes, and His promises. Therefore, it is essential to study the Bible as our authority for knowing Him and obeying Him.
SIN:
Man has sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23). Men sin because they are sinners from birth (Psalm 51:5). The consequences of sin are spiritual death and eternal separation from God in Hell (Ephesians 2:1-3; Revelation 20:11-15). However, we also believe that the remedy for the consequences of sin is Jesus’ death upon the Cross for the forgiveness of sin (John 3:16).
SALVATION:
Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3). His substitutionary death on the cross for our sins enables those who trust in Him as Savior from sin to be forgiven completely (Romans 3:21-26; 8:1). Once a person is saved, they are saved forever (John 6:39-40; 10:28-29; Romans 8:38-39; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 2:8-9; 4:30; Jude 24).
