About our name
WHAT IS THE NAME EKKLESIA (ek-kley-sia)?
The name EKKLESIA was the New Testament name for church. Since the New Testament was written in Greek, this was the literal Greek word used for church. The word originally meant an assembly or congregation, but it became so much more than that when the church was formed by the shedding of the blood of Jesus and the baptizing work of the Spirit. EKKLESIA became a term that referred to a group of redeemed people who trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior. The EKKLESIA was NOT A BUILDING, but A PEOPLE who loved Jesus passionately and desired to live for Him boldly. We long for the same passion and desire of the early EKKLESIA. WE BELIEVERS ARE THE CHURCH!
